In February 2018, the government announced a £45 million brain cancer research fund, to include a Cancer Research UK contribution of £25 million and a government contribution of £20 million, to be rolled out over five years. Plans to double the initial government investment to £40 million have been announced on the 13th of May, and Cancer Research UK, in partnership with Stand Up to Cancer has announced an additional £10 million fund.

With the announced increase, a total research package of £75 million will be made available, through the National Institute for Health Research and Cancer Research UK over a five year period.

BNOS has been campaigning together with brain tumour charities, patient organisations and high profile patrons for an increase in brain tumour research investment for many years and we welcome this announcement.

We will endeavour to keep the neuro-oncology community informed of funding opportunities, when they become available.
