Short biography
Rasheed read medical sciences and neuroscience at the University of Cambridge before studying clinical medicine at Oxford University then undertaking foundation clinical training in London. He trained for 8 years in neurosurgery in Liverpool and at MDAnderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas subspecialising in brain and spine tumours. He took time out of surgical training to complete a full-time PhD investigating brain metastasis invasion for which he was funded by the Medical Research Council (UK) and the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Rasheed is a general neurosurgeon with subspecialist interest in brain tumours and an early stage researcher in the preclinical brain tumour programme in Liverpool. He is chief investigator on the CRUK-funded “Britemet” brain metastasis study and supervises postgraduate (PhD, MRes) students on a variety of projects focused on immunotherapy, brain tumour invasion and advanced imaging.
