Short biography

Dr. Alina Pandele graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Genetics in 2017 and an MRes in Translational Medicine in 2018, both from The University of Manchester. During her MRes, she investigated synergistic drug approaches between FDA-approved chemotherapeutics and functional inhibitors of acid sphingomyelinase in Glioblastoma using high throughput screening. Motivated by her growing interest in this field, Dr. Pandele pursued a PhD in Medicine at The University of Nottingham, focusing on the identification of novel therapeutic targets in paediatric ependymoma by integrating transcriptomic and metabolomic data derived from spatially distinct anatomical regions.

Since completing her PhD in 2023, Dr. Pandele has continued her research in paediatric neuro-oncology at The University of Nottingham as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. Her current work involves investigating synergistic drug approaches in patient-derived lines, with a keen interest in understanding how metabolism influences brain tumours and identifying metabolic vulnerabilities in paediatric brain tumours.
