DESCRIPTION:This conference focuses on Non Medical Prescribing in Cancer Care. Through national updates and practical case studies the conference will demonstrate how the effective use of nurse prescribing in cancer care can improve patient care\, experience and outcomes. The conference will also reflect on how services and prescribing has changed during Covid-19. The conference will focus on developing competence and confidence in non medical prescribing in cancer care\, including using the using the National Competency Framework for all Prescribers. Case study sessions will demonstrate how prescribing practice can be improve care for people with cancer and will focus on maintaining and demonstrating prescribing competence\, prescribing for pain management\, chemotherapy prescribing\, Immunotherapy induced side effects and how to manage them\, prescribing for co-morbidity and the importance of holistic assessment\, prescribing for symptom control\, and prescribing in end life care including controlled drugs.

DESCRIPTION:This half-day virtual course will allow a surgeon with no prior knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts to understand the relevant literature on new devices\, particularly surgical robots. Attendees will have the opportunity to consolidate the discussed concepts by illustration of the development and evaluation processes in case studies.  \nThe first half of the course will provide a practical introduction to the basic concepts in robotics relevant to neurosurgery – this will include discussion of robotic architecture\, motion\, sensors\, and user-interface paradigms. SUMMARY:SNO/ASCO CNS Cancer Conference 2023
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThe 2023 SNO/ASCO CNS Cancer Conference — Accelerating therapeutic discovery and advancing care of patients with primary and metastatic CNS malignancies — will be held on August 10-12\, 2023\, in San Francisco\, California. The goal of this annual Conference is to provide a deeper dive into the basic science of brain metastases and neuro-oncology clinical trials. Together we will make significant improvements in survival and quality of life of patients with primary and metastatic cancers of the central nervous system.\nThis collaborative Conference will:\n \n\nstimulate basic\, translational\, and clinical research in CNS metastases;\nengage clinical researchers in innovative trial designs for primary and secondary CNS malignancies;\naddress the needs of patients with intracranial tumors.\n\nThese areas of great unmet need will be addressed in a dynamic and interactive framework. The structure brings together various disciplines to emphasize basic and translational research on brain metastases as well as clinical trial design and outcomes in primary and metastatic intracranial tumors. Research highlighting novel approaches\, innovative ideas\, and recent advances in neuro-oncology clinical trials will be presented and discussed. There will be a unique opportunity for collaboration and exchange of ideas between those dedicated to the science and care of patients with primary and secondary malignancies of the CNS.  \nUnparalleled Networking Opportunities\nThis conference will provide a unique opportunity for establishing collegial relationships with other international professionals focused on improving outcomes for brain tumor patients. DESCRIPTION:Due to the remote nature of many static departments and the mobile service\, many MRI radiographers rarely see a radiologist or gain feedback on scans and reports. \nThis two part\, virtual event aimed at radiographers\, offers an overview of interpreting MR images of the spine (part 1) and brain (part 2). It provides a review of normal and abnormal appearances that will help radiographers ensure that they are providing the necessary images for the radiologists and correct demonstration of the area. The events will also cover how to identify red flag symptoms\, manage urgent findings and when to escalate. Special attention will be made to the role of the MRI Radiographer in Cauda Equina syndrome. \nEducational aims: \n\nTo understand the clinical indications for MR of the spine and brain\, including the red flag symptoms to look for and the appearances to escalate\nTo understand the rationale for the choice of pulse sequence when imaging spine and brain\nTo recognise key anatomy and common pathologies seen in the spine and brain\nTo become familiar with the terminology used in preliminary clinical evaluation of images\nTo evaluate the role of the MRI Radiographer in light of new Cauda Equina guidelines.
