SUMMARY:Queen Square Multidisciplinary Neuro-oncology Teaching Course (Jan '23)
DESCRIPTION:The need for multidisciplinary working in neuro-oncology is well established but a common theme that will be addressed is the need for better understanding between core specialties within the Neuro-oncology Multidisciplinary Team. \nTo address this\, this course has been designed for Trainees\, Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists in the core specialities of neuro-oncology – Neurology\, Neurosurgery\, Clinical Oncology\, Neuroradiology\, Neuropathology and Palliative Care. \nThe Aims of the Course are: \n\nTo introduce the basic principles and recent advances in Neuro-oncological treatments\nTo develop a standardised approach to the diagnosis and classification of brain and spinal tumours using modern imaging\, histopathology and molecular genetic techniques.\nTo develop an understanding of the multidisciplinary management of patients with primary and metastatic brain and spine tumours\, and other rarer tumours of the nervous system.\nTo develop an understanding of the symptomatic management of the brain tumour patient with neurological symptoms\, including palliative and end-of-life care and treatment related toxicity.\nTo provide an opportunity for multidisciplinary discussion of common and rare cases\n\nThe course will be divided into two days throughout 2022-2023 and will be delivered by the consultant staff of the UCLH/UCL/National Hospital Neuro-oncology multidisciplinary team.  \nDates and programmes: \nThe course will be delivered at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology\, 33 Queen Square\, basement lecture theatre.  \n\n28th September 2022: Principles of Neuro-oncology\n11th January 2023: Benign and Malignant Tumours

DESCRIPTION:The 2022 annual meeting of the British Neurosurgical Research Group (BNRG) will be jointly hosted by the Academic Committee of the SBNS\, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Leeds. \nThe BNRG are a group of clinicians\, scientists\, nurses and healthcare professionals who are interested in all aspects of neurosurgical research. SUMMARY:Non Medical Prescribing in Cancer Care
DESCRIPTION:This conference focuses on non-medical prescribing in cancer care. Through national updates and practical case studies the conference will demonstrate how the effective use of non-medical prescribing in cancer care can improve patient care\, experience and outcomes. \nThe conference will focus on developing competence and confidence in non-medical prescribing in cancer care\, including using the National Competency Framework for all Prescribers. Case study sessions will demonstrate how prescribing practice can improve care for people with cancer and will focus on maintaining and demonstrating prescribing competence\, prescribing for pain management\,  chemotherapy prescribing\, immunotherapy induced side effects and how to manage them\,  prescribing for co-morbidity and the importance of holistic assessment\, prescribing for symptom control\, and prescribing in end life care including controlled drugs.

SUMMARY:Queen Square Multidisciplinary Neuro-oncology Teaching Course
DESCRIPTION:The need for multidisciplinary working in neuro-oncology is well established but a common theme that will be addressed is the need for better understanding between core specialties within the Neuro-oncology Multidisciplinary Team. \nTo address this\, this course has been designed for Trainees\, Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists in the core specialities of neuro-oncology – Neurology\, Neurosurgery\, Clinical Oncology\, Neuroradiology\, Neuropathology and Palliative Care. \nThe Aims of the Course are: \n\nTo introduce the basic principles and recent advances in Neuro-oncological treatments\nTo develop a standardised approach to the diagnosis and classification of brain and spinal tumours using modern imaging\, histopathology and molecular genetic techniques.\nTo develop an understanding of the multidisciplinary management of patients with primary and metastatic brain and spine tumours\, and other rarer tumours of the nervous system.\nTo develop an understanding of the symptomatic management of the brain tumour patient with neurological symptoms\, including palliative and end-of-life care and treatment related toxicity.\nTo provide an opportunity for multidisciplinary discussion of common and rare cases\n\nThe course will be divided into two days throughout 2022-2023 and will be delivered by the consultant staff of the UCLH/UCL/National Hospital Neuro-oncology multidisciplinary team.  \nDates and programmes: \nThe course will be delivered at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology\, 33 Queen Square\, basement lecture theatre.  \n\n28th September 2022: Principles of Neuro-oncology\n11th January 2023: Benign and Malignant Tumours

SUMMARY:Women in Neuroscience Symposium 2022
DESCRIPTION:Scientific evidence shows that gender bias still exists in neuroscience. Female neuroscientists are still underrepresented in various aspects of academic life\, and gender imbalances have recently been reported in neuroscience citations\, raising concerns about the correct evaluation of women’s contributions in science. Women in Neuroscience Symposium aimed to highlight the significance of the contributions of women in recent neuroscientific advances and acknowledge the difficulties and challenges that may have encountered during their scientific careers. This symposium is for a diverse academic audience and we hope that our lectures will help women to move forward in their academic careers and encourage men to support the change needed in this field. On behalf of the scientific committee\, we would like to invite MDs\, Masters\, Ph.D. students\, Postdoctoral fellows and young faculty members to participate and present their research at the Women in Neuroscience Symposium 2022.
