Queen Square Multi-disciplinary Neuro-oncology Teaching Course

The course is divided into four days and is delivered by the consultant staff of the UCLH/UCL/National Hospital Neuro-oncology multidisciplinary team. 2017-2018 dates are:

  • 30th November 2017    Basic Principles – Epidemiology, Pathology, Imaging, Surgery, Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Biological Agents, Symptomatic treatments, End of Life care
  • 25th January 2018    Gliomas/Teenage Young Adult Tumours (medulloblastoma, germ cell tumours)
  • 12th April 2018    Benign and Metastatic Tumours – Skull Base, Pituitary, Spinal tumours, Cord compression
  • 11th July 2018    Leptomeningeal Metastases, Neurotoxicity, Paraneoplastic  Syndromes, Rare Tumours (Primary CNS lymphoma, pineal tumours), Ethical Considerations

The need for multidisciplinary working in neuro-oncology is well established but a common theme that will be addressed is the need for better understanding between core specialties within the Neuro-oncology Multidisciplinary Team.

To address this, this course has been designed for Trainees, Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists in the core specialities of neuro-oncology – Neurology, Neurosurgery, Clinical Oncology, Neuroradiology, Neuropathology and Palliative Care.
