The role of the Communications Officer
The Communications Officer will work in a voluntary capacity with members of BNOS council to promote the activities of the society.
The position will carry the following duties and responsibilities:
- Working with the president and secretary of the society to facilitate communication of factually accurate professionally appropriate information
- Working with the society secretary to develop web-based communication and promotion
- Facilitating communication with the media, professional organisations, charities and government
- Collating information and media reports relating to brain cancer to inform the society in developing a national information resource for patients & carers, scientists and clinicians
- Promoting the society and recruiting new members
The individual
You will be a good communicator with previous secretarial or managerial skills. Previous experience in the media or advertising sectors would be an advantage.
You will be computer literate and familiar with a variety of software including word processing and web design.
You will be keen to apply your skills to benefit patients suffering from incurable cancer and liaising with charities and professional organisations that work to support these patients.
